Poll #2: Fast Flip News Site
Google is developing a news site that "it hopes will make it easier for readers to read newspaper and magazine articles." It allows readers to quickly flip through news articles from quite a few publishers. Read Miguel Helft's article about Fast Flip, take a look at the site, and then post your experiences after you have tried it out. Do you think it is useful? Would you tend to use it? How did your impressions match what the article in the New York Times said about it?
Comments
I think that fast flip will be very useful. Not enough people keep up with the news and reading a newspaper is plain and not as accessible as the internet. Using the internet for news is becoming more and more popular among the younger generations and I would definitely use a news source such as this. Newspapers tend to be boring and not aesthetically pleasing, but by incorporating google, it should attract more readers. I think the New York Times is going in the right direction and is realizing that the internet is the future of people's news source. I also like the visual search feature being incorporated into Microsoft's Bing. This feature was very effective when we used it in class yesterday and I would like to see it in a regular search engine. The ranking articles feature will also be good to find the latest and most popular news articles.

I think the digitalization is the main trend in the very near future. Reading newspaper on the internet will be acceptable for more and more people, especially when it become more and more easier. Using Fast Flip is more efficient than reading regular newspaper, I consider the advantages as follow:
First and foremost, you can find what you want very easy. you can use the powerful searching engine provide by google, and the amazing part is that articles can be read by popularity of many different newspaper or magazine, like Recent, Most Viewed, Recommended and Headlines, and article could be ranking , this kind of feature can't be carry out by regular new paper. Second, one of the advantage of internet is when you see something interesting, you can share it with friends, you can comment it and see responds from other people. Third, Fast Flip has very friendly graphical user interface, The articles which are suitable size image and flipping from one article to the next, or from one rail to the next. easy to get comfortable.
I think Fast Flip's future is very bright, especially" Mr. Bharat said Google will offer a version of Fast Flip for some phones " so people can read this e-newspaper on the train or bus or anywhere. Just don't bother the revenue divarication from google and publishers, as a reader I feel Fast Flip is useful and I will use it.

Fast Flip is useful to people who do not read newspapers and magazines on a daily basis or for people who want to keep up with culture on a daily basis. What I would have like to see was more news about whats going on in the world. It would be nice if they could add CNN and other news leaders to the list of flips. I would use this if it gave me more mind stimulating news and gave me awareness of whats going on. The article basically gave the exact description of what Flast Flip is so I could not expect anything more I guess, but those other things I mentioned would definately be nice to add on. The New York Times does have world news but I want something that is current (within the past couple of hours/mins).

In this digitalize and globalised world nothing is more expected, and already being done, than to be able to connect to the world from the screen on your computer. It is faster to search the web and go thru the most current news from the other side of the world than to read an unfashionable, hard to handle newspaper. Besides, the new advantage that web search giant, Google, offer us is incredible. Google’s Fast Flip allows the public to go thru major news publishers’ sites and read current issues faster than ever. I think Fast Flip is a great tool because not only allows reading news faster, but also brings you different perspectives by connecting you with other related material. I will definitely use it and recommended. One point that should be more closely take into consideration is the amount of revenue that Google will be sharing with the publishers and if this presents a threat to them.

We live in a media savy, internet ready world. Every generation born since the early 90's have grown up in a world where the computer, internet excess, and information efficiency are in demand in every day life. Google has been the leader in information search technology since 1998 and their application Fast Flip is only one of a number of information applications created by google programmers. While some people May not want to recognize the fact. But news print seems to be on its way out. It is one great generational change since the inception of the Internet. People no longer turn to the written word for information but now turn to read it on the Internet. Likewise publishers have been combatting the trend by establishing online versions of their news and magazine print. What google is trying to establish is "one stop" shopping for the news world. FastFlip allows users to obtain uptodate and rurent stories from multiple media outlets and organized under a series of different subhedings and topics. It is aplications like fastflip that continue to keep google on the cutting edge of IT.

With the internet full of so much junk, now a days; and search engines giving you random and useless results, i think that this fast flip sites is a great idea. You would be able to see what site you want to go to before even going to it, and could probally tell just by the preview look of it wither its even remotly close to what you were searching for. I feel with this new fast flip they shoudl do it with all search engines. and with the news like this on the web people would be more susceptible to more important news; what they really want..

Google's new application, Fastflip, is a surprisingly useful tool for people who wish to keep up to date with today's news. The site gives reader access to a number of articles on a variety of topics, picked from a substantial base of publications. This makes it an ideal tool for people who only subscribe to one paper and would like to read more about a particular article. This is better used as a tool to find articles about a specific topic, especially if you want to compare publications, than it is as one to simply follow current news.

I would definitely use this tool. As people flock from the printed publishing to the world of the Web it will be important for companies who use to thrive on published advertising revenue to make more reader friendly web applications. They'll have to do this in order to recapture some of the revenue from those who will pull their advertisements from the printed publications. Because of Google's new application, readers will be more inclined to read those newspapers online, so this will definitely be an asset to many firms.

I would most definitely use this tool. I found it to be easy to comprehend and quick. I usually read the new york times online and sometimes find it overwhelming on its layout on the website because its so much information within the home page. I feel like this will not only be profitable to google, but also to the newspaper companies, and will also save the environment. In a society that is so technologically advance i feel like this was long awaited. I also believe that with this application people will start to read the newspaper more than they currently do because of its conveniency. I also like the fact that if you see something interesting you can share it with your friends. I feel like this will attract the younger generation, which is definitely needed because i feel as though people my age don't read the newspaper enough but will read a blog or gossip blog because its accessible. We are a generation of technology and i feel like this will be beneficial to us, and make us become more knowledgeable about our current events. I hope more news companies find interest in this tool and branch onto the website.
