Response to Article: My response to the touch screens would be that it would be very useful in business and in education settings. Being able just to touch screen without having to input an information is great. They will have to though fix the flaws with the program to make sure that touch screen works perfectly. I think this techonolgy will be on the open market within the next 10 years.

Article Response: I like the idea of the giant touch screen display in the first video, but the shadow reach seems like it may pose several problems with other shadows getting in the way. Being able to control your desktop with your hands seems like it may prove to be easier for some people to work with computers. A bigger touch screen would also prove to be useful when presenting information in certain careers, as seen in the movie Minority Report.
Regarding the 2D/3D video game, it looks interesting but having to switch the camera view so often would be irritating and become redundant. The only game that I've seen that has been able to do this with a balance is possibly Paper Mario (If I'm correct).

2) WHat does the programs do?
3) Does the progrms work?

These new interfaces are great to clean up messy desks. The one program that allowed the user to feel like everything is on a desk seems good. Some people might feel comfortable with a messy desk top. The program seems very simple to use and everyone can use it. I like how the information can be sorted out in many different ways and some things that we may think are important we can do how we would in reality, which was the folding of a page corner. The Giant touch screen would be very helpful in information gathering. By having a larger screen we may be able to put multiple sets of information on one screen, so instead of flipping though pages we can just move left and right to get everything. Being able to enlarge documents is great for a better view of one or two sheets of information. I also like how for the large touch screen, shadow touch technique can be very helpful if someone were to gather information on a screen that may be 3 times a persons height. I am not too fond of the program where our mind can gather information, which gives a feeling that people will become very lazy in the future.

I would prefer touch screen GUI's because I am not the best typist and have little patience at times when I just want to get things done. I also am a visual thinker so to use a GUI that mimics a realworld desktop with the instantaneous reaction of the desktop just as in real life interest me and would accomodate my way of thinking therefore increasing my productivity. The different ways at which the designers are attempting the interactivity vary in usefulness from bad to underdeveloped to unnecessary and of course right on the money. without going into all of the above I will say the 3d desktop idea was the best because I am a person who needs to see all his stuff in order to manage it well. I think the desktop should be expanded to an office so one could make use of virtual bookshelves, office machines like printers fax etc., desk drawers and all that one would utilize in a real world office setting. As for platform though I believe the Apple platform is more suited at this current time to run such a software but who knows in the near future what bill gates may include and or migrate into the windows code other than bug fixes and upgrade packs and security patches. all in all the future of technology has been screaming to be let loose into a virtual world and finally someones listening.

The touchscreen is a great idea, but poses several problems. I like that you can expanze or minimize the picture you;re looking at to zoom in and out. One problem it poses is that there is a lot more physical movement that would be needed for the giant screen to work. The shadow play is a good improvement to the problem of not being able to reach. Brain loop is an interesting idea, but doesn't seem to be needed yet in society. The 2D/3D gaming is a very cool concept and would definately be helpful and useful while playing video games, but has the potential to become a nuisance as well.

Many of these new programs are cool concepts, but I can't see the practical use in everyday life. Giant touchpad devices may raise a few eyebrows, but to me they seem completely excessive. Our computers today are capable of handling most of our essentials above and beyond. Many of these ideas are already available and being used, like desktop organization. I do however think that the adobe AIR program could be a time saver for pinpointing our searches and shopping online.

Some of these new, high-tech products really show how the human race is learning to use computers. A few of these still seem too advanced to exist yet, even though I just saw them with my own eyes. Maybe its just me, but some of these seem a little over the top. I suppose this could be the case because I'm comfortable in the techonological time period I'm living in now. But the computers that are beginning to operate using human thoughts and impulses almost frighten me. I feel as though this could be something out of a futuristic movie where technology takes over the world. It makes me wonder whether or not computers will eventually have the capabilities of actually "learning." Only time will tell, but for now I'm sure we will all continue to use computers in every day life.

Response to article: They were so impressive technologies or concepts.Especially, 'Gianttouch screen' and 'Shadow play' could be really useful if they were general technologies for many people. But 'Shadow display' looked a little bit uncomfortable to use because it seemed like hard to move freely with a tiny point. While, 2D/3D concept is pretty familiar to people thesedays influenced by computer. Finally, I guess the 'Brainloop'not only needs some time for being recognized by people but also whether it's really possible things could be happened or not.
Obviously, through like these a variety of technological concepts, we can sure the bright future with computers.

I liked the idea of the giant touch screen in the video. It seems like it would be a lot more helpful in the future with information gathering and being able to see more things at once. Many people are using this on cell phones now so I definitely see it being a possibility in the near future. Also, I think the video with the desktop icons being put into piles is a great idea. It seems like it would be something very easy to use and could be put into today's technology relatively easy. With all of the information out there this would be a great way to be more organized on a computer. It would get rid of a lot of paperwork and all be saved onto a hard drive.

Topic: Mark Twain
Questions:
1)Who is Mark Twain?
2)Why he said there was a spiritual crisis?
3)When did he publish “Who is Mark Twain”?
Shadow Play:
I am just wondering that how could the computer know that I am dragging something not jumping from one to the other. The shadow is indistinct. I doubt whether it can be as good as a mouse.
Just Like Your Real Life Mess:
I love this design. I believe it will be very popular in the future. I think it will be better if it has a function to pick out the same format files from a lot of different bunches of files automatically.
Thought Control:
It’s amazing. It can help a lot of disabled persons like Stephen Hawking.
2D/3D Gaming:
Another nice 3D design. However, I prefer 2D game which is more sampler and enjoyable. This 3D game makes me feel lost and dizzy if it keeps rotating like that.

As far as these giant touch screens go, I'm not sure who anyone thinks is going to use them. Doesn't this go against everything any inventor has ever worked towards up until this point?...Ways to enable us to put forth less effort accomplishing more? For now, we can sit and type on tiny keyboards and move a finger on a tiny touch pad to present projection screens. I'm not sure about any of you, but I'm not about to get up and start stretching to do a class presentation. Now this brain loop technology seems more my style.

I think the use of a touch screen device can be very fun and useful in the beginning but then quickly become a pain. I have always found that even though these devices are made to be just like in human life, such as the messy desk, you are never really able to put the things you want in your ideal place on the computer. It is like the objects are already pre programmed to be in specific areas. The shadow video is a great idea but it could become messy with the other objects and trying to grab an object in the distant over another object. As for the 3d game, I found it very fascinating and interested in playing a game like that myself. Although it was cool, I think that it could become very confusing with the constant changing of views.

I think that the giant touch screen is a great idea and can be very useful for large projects or presentations. However, I feel that it is inefficient when used for anything else. I think that it can be improved because currently there are still multiple problems with the program. For example, when a demonstrator was using the giant screen and he was trying to look through multiple web pages from one screen, the larger screen would not stay in place as he was moving the smaller web pages. It seems like a great idea but still needs perfection.

I like the giant touch screen. I think it would be really interesting to use and would help see a lot of different information at once. I do think that they are not really ready for our time and the everyday people because it is a bit excessive and people do not really need that much. I think they would be useful in business, schools and companies but not really for personal use. I was interested in the gathering information one but I think it could make people lazy in the future. All of these technologies show how we are only going to expand in electronics in the future.

IT tech is getting better and it's market is also expanding. There are tons of game users that will love this giant touch screen. There will be more better products that will capture people's mind. It is not easy work and there are several problems with the work like shadow play showed. The problems showed in shadow play is the challenge that those UI and UX designers to improve. I think these market contributed with data will get better.

I wish I could use bumptop and the giant touchscreen at the same time!! These programs are amazing. I'm sure they have there flaws but I believe in today's society with the advancements in technology that seem to come week to week, these programs would attract a large number of people. Teens, who would find this type of technology fun and intuitive as well as anyone looking to get things done quicker and more efficiently while also looking classy.

After reading and watching the assignment, it reinterates my opinions that technology is becoming too intense. Some of these things that humans are inventing today literally seem like they are from outer space and in the far future. It is scary to think how much we really depend on technology and what would happen if it all suddenly crashed on us. The new products are cool, and they are definately ground-breaking, but do we really need them? Does everythng need to be touch screen and 3-D? I think this just encourages the fact that we are living in an "unreal" world.

Topic: Vietnam War
1) How did the sentiment of the men serving in the war differ from previous wars?
2) How did the experience of those left at home differ in the same regard?
3) How does the contemporary view of Vietnam treat the conflict compared to lets say the contemporary view of WW2?
*The Technologies that were displayed in this blog are vital to improving the experience of those with disabilities who otherwise might not recieve the full benefit of the information age. Also, varied methods of information input would open the door to more convient research and information gathering (for example, the type to talk technology on a Iphone). I believe that future years will see a more widespead acceptance as well as a massive improvment in the realiability and the use of these types of technology
