Architecture Competition Deadline extended
UA Undergraduates invited to participate in creative competitions – submissions due February 26, 2007
UA undergraduates are invited to participate in a competition to write a short story, a play, or a piece of hypertext fiction; or to enter the visual competition submitting digital video, or interactive game. The competitions are held in conjunction with the year-long celebration and exploration of the architectural significance of the University at Albany’s Edward Durell Stone campus, http://www.albany.edu/chats/architecture/.
All submissions are due February 26, 2007, and winners will be announced April 4, 2007. Qualified entrants are current University at Albany undergraduate students at the time of judging. Collaborative submissions are encouraged for all categories, with a maximum of five persons collaborating on a submission.
Suggested themes for submissions include:
- How do individuals and/or groups experience the architectural spaces of the UAlbany campus and other spaces?
- What are the relationships of architecture, community, and the experience of space?
- What are some of the critical, historical and perceptual issues of architecture and visual culture?
- How does architecture and visual design either integrate a community or alienate individuals from a community?
- Is architecture art?
- Does architecture shape your attitude and experiences in your day-to-day life?
