Book Lovers’ Road Show Comes to UAlbany Libraries on June 1
ALBANY, NY (May 10, 2007) –Albany’s University Libraries will host “The Book Lovers’ Road Show” on Friday, June 1, 1:30-3:30, in the Standish Room, Science Library, uptown Campus. The event will be open for all UAlbany alumni and other guests. Refreshments will be served.
The program is similar to the PBS series, “Antiques Road Show.” The presenter, John J. Walsdorf, a noted bibliophile, bookseller, and appraiser, will include a brief talk on book collecting, and evaluating individual books themselves. The “road show” portion of the program will allow audience members with tickets to bring books forward for discussion and appraisal.
Jack Walsdorf earned a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin. He has worked as a librarian in the U.S. and in Great Britain. He worked in the oxford-based bookselling company of B.H. Blackwell, and he is currently a consultant with Alibris, the online search service for out-of-print and hard-to-find books. His own book collections have been exhibited at the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and George Washington University.
