A collaboration between the University Libraries and the Department of Art and Art History will come to fruition when an exhibition of advanced student photography opens on May 5. Titled Finding Our Way: Student Work from Art 444 Advanced Photography, the exhibition will be held in the University Library's Interactive Media Center (lower level). An impromptu conversation between Danny Goodwin, Associate Professor of Art, and Regina Conboy, Head, Interactive Media Center stimulated the idea for this University at Albany collaboration.

Art 444 Advanced Photography focuses on traditional chemical-based black and white photography, as well as digital photography. The exhibition will feature a single, limited edition photograph from each student's final project. To ensure their longevity and to encourage sustainable artistic practices, all works in the exhibition will be printed on cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks and presented on museum board.

"As a comprehensive, public research university, the production of new, distinctive creative works is one of the most important things we do at the undergraduate level," says Professor Goodwin. "I’m delighted to have worked alongside this group this semester."

"The University Libraries champion our students' work," says Dean of University Libraries Rebecca Mugridge. "In addition to supporting our faculty and students, we celebrate their achievements. We are proud to display our students’ art work in the Interactive Media Center."
