Changes In UADelivery & InterLibrary Loan Services

**Dewey and Science Libraries will be CLOSED December 23rd – January 2nd**
**InterLibrary Loan CLOSED December 26th and January 2nd**

UADELIVERY & INTERLIBRARY LOAN ITEMS ON HOLD

Beginning Tuesday, December 20th items will NOT be sent to Dewey or Science Library for pick-up. They will be placed “On Hold” at the University Library Circulation Desk.
If you have items “On Hold” at Dewey Library or Science Library, please pick them up by Wednesday, December 21st  
On Thursday, December 22nd any items “On Hold” that have not been picked up will be shipped to the University (Main) Library where they will remain “On Hold”. You may pick up your items from the University (Main) Library Circulation Desk.
On Monday, January 3rd, any items that were “On Hold” for you at the University Library will be shipped back to your regular pick up location. (Please allow for turnaround time.)
SUSPENDED SERVICES DEC 16th – Jan 2nd

• Office delivery services for Faculty; including the East Campus. (This is due to closed buildings and limited mail services during the Limited Operations Period of the Intersession Energy Savings Initiative.)

NOTE: Home delivery services for Distance Ed users and for Patrons with Disabilities will NOT be suspended.

SUBMITTING UADELIVERY REQUESTS FOR MATERIAL FROM DEWEY AND SCIENCE DECEMBER 23rd - JANUARY 2nd  

While the Dewey and Science Libraries are closed, you may continue to place UA Delivery Services requests through ILLiad.  Library staff will make a run to Dewey Library on 12/28 and daily runs to the Science Library in order to pull material from the stacks so that it can be brought to the University Library for processing.  Please allow for longer turnaround times.

• Book Delivery – You may submit requests for books from Dewey and Science Libraries. You will be able to pick those books up from the University (Main) Library.

NOTE: We will not fill requests for books from the University Library to be picked up at the University Library. 

• Articles – Submit requests as usual.

SUBMITTING INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUESTS DECEMBER 20th - JANUARY 2nd

 
The Interlibrary Loan office will be staffed for regular business hours during the holidays, with the exception that the office will be closed on December 26th and January 2nd per the University Library being closed on those days. You may submit interlibrary loan requests as usual.  Due to the holiday closing of many libraries that lend us materials, please expect that it may take a bit longer than usual to fill your requests.

• Books – You may submit requests for books as usual. However, during this period all books will be held at the University (Main) Library regardless of your normal pick location.

• Articles – Submit requests as usual.

Interlibrary Loan and UADelivery Changes you should know about.

The following changes to our Interlibrary Loan and UA Delivery services will go into effect on Wednesday, August 24th.  ILLiad will be offline that morning while these changes are being implemented.

New Login Method
You will now use your NetID and NetID password to log in to ILLiad.  You will no longer need a separate password for ILLiad.

Combined ILL/UADelivery Request Forms
The Interlibrary Loan and UA Delivery request forms are being combined into shared forms for both services.  This will allow you to submit both ILL and UADelivery requests directly from databases.

New Location Buttons on ILL/UA Delivery Request Forms
This feature will allow requests to be automatically routed to the University Library, Science Library, or Dewey Library. By routing requests directly to these libraries, we will be able to provide faster service to you.

Elimination of UADelivery Request Limits
There will no longer be a three request per day limit for UA Delivery.  Every effort will be made to process all UA Delivery requests as quickly as staffing levels and request volumes permit.  The page limit has also been eliminated.  All requests that comply with copyright guidelines will be honored.

New Interlibrary Loan Due Date Reminder
You will now receive due date reminders starting one week before for Interlibrary Loan items are due.

Longer Online Renewal Grace Period for ILL Items
You will be allowed to submit online renewals for Interlibrary Loan items via ILLiad up to two weeks after your due date.

(Note: Dewey and Science Libraries will be closed from December 23rd - January 3rd).

The following procedures have been set up for Interlibrary Loan and UA Delivery Services during the Intersession:

Interlibrary Loan:
The Interlibrary Loan office will be staffed for regular business hours during the holidays, with the exception that the office will be closed on December 24th and December 31st. You may submit interlibrary loan requests as usual. Due to the holiday closing of many libraries that lend us materials, please expect that it may take a bit longer than usual to fill your requests.

If your pickup location is the Dewey or Science Library, note that we will stop shipping items to those locations as of December 18th . As of December 22nd, all items on hold at those locations will be sent to the University Library Circulation desk. Mail delivery to distance education students will be suspended from December 18th until January 3rd. For more information, call 518-442-3613.

UA Delivery Service:
You may place UA Delivery Services requests through ILLiad during the Intersession. During the shutdown of Dewey and Science (December 18th – January 3rd ) , Circulation staff will make runs to Dewey Library on 12/28 and 12/30 and daily runs to the Science Library to pull material from the stacks so that it can be brought to the University Library Circulation Desk for pick-up. Please allow for longer turnaround time during this period.

If you have items on hold at the Dewey or Science Library, please pick them up by Friday, December 18th. On Tuesday, December 22nd, any remaining items will be shipped to the University Library, where they can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. From December 18th until January 3rd, office delivery for faculty will be suspended due to closed buildings and limited mail service. For those same dates, shipping to Distance Education Students and to persons with disabilities will be suspended. The full range of services for both Interlibrary Loan and UA Delivery Services will resume on January 4th, 2010.

An upgrade to our popular ILLiad software for interlibrary loan and document delivery will be installed on Wednesday, May 28th, and the system is scheduled to be down from 5 to 8 p.m. We will be testing the new version over the next several days.

We anticipate that among the features of the new version (7.3) will be improved e-mail notification and circulation functions as well as enhanced RSS feed capabilities for broadcasting messages to ILLiad users. We look forward to serving Interlibrary Loan and UA Delivery Services patrons with the enhanced version of this resource sharing software.
