3. Examine the screens for each of the Settings tabs.

Settings

The settings tabs are "General," "New Entry Defaults," "Feedback," "Publishing," and "Plugins."

There are several options on these pages which you can configure. It is probably best to accept the defaults for now. Keep in mind that you can change them at any time as you gain experience with administering your blog. In the meantime, look them over to get an idea of how your blog will work and how you can configure it to meet your needs.

If you are unclear about what an option means, click on the question mark icon appearing with the option to get more information. Question mark

On the "Publishing" page, do not change the "Site URL" or "Site Root." These have been configured for you and should not be tampered with.

4. Start blogging!

Start blogging by creating your first entry, using the Create New Entry form.

You can access the Create New Entry form in two ways.

1) the Main Menu page,

Create a new entry

and 2) the sidebar menu on other Movable Type pages

Create new entry

Here is a partial view of the Create New Entry form. Fill out the form. Note the various options for text display, for example B, I and U. These options work like a word processor but will insert these effects in HTML. You can also paste existing text into the entry form.

Always Preview your entry before posting. If everything looks good, Save it.

  2. Select "Published" as the Post Status
  3. Click "Save" to publish your entry on your blog
