This is accessible both on and off campus.
Log in with your Movable Type username and password.
In addition to the "Settings" option, note the other menu selections on the right. These are your main options for blog configuration and maintenance.
The settings tabs are "General," "New Entry Defaults," "Feedback," "Publishing," and "Plugins."
There are several options on these pages which you can configure. It is probably best to accept the defaults for now. Keep in mind that you can change them at any time as you gain experience with administering your blog. In the meantime, look them over to get an idea of how your blog will work and how you can configure it to meet your needs.
If you are unclear about what an option means, click on the question mark icon appearing with the option to get more information.
On the "Publishing" page, do not change the "Site URL" or "Site Root." These have been configured for you and should not be tampered with.
Start blogging by creating your first entry, using the Create New Entry form.
You can access the Create New Entry form in two ways.
1) the Main Menu page,
and 2) the sidebar menu on other Movable Type pages
Here is a partial view of the Create New Entry form. Fill out the form. Note the various options for text display, for example B, I and U. These options work like a word processor but will insert these effects in HTML. You can also paste existing text into the entry form.
Always Preview your entry before posting. If everything looks good, Save it.
The default Posting Status is Unpublished. You will need to change the status to Published in order for the saved entry to appear on your blog.
If you want to change your default status to Published so that you can skip this last step, go to the Settings -> New Entry Defaults page and make the change.
If you want to learn more about Movable Type and blog customizations, consult Customize Your Blog for instructions on some configurations you can try.
Keep in mind that you can click on "Help" at the top of Movable Type pages to access the Movable Type User Manual.
