MedicalPhysicsWeb.org

The Institute of Physics (IoP) recently launched MedicalPhysicsWeb.org, a portal to the latest news and innovations in medical physics. It provides access to information in the following categories: opinion, industry, research, journals, products, companies, and events. There is also a listing of important societies. Most of information is freely available, however, registration or subscription is sometimes required. Registration is freely available.

Geometry & Topology and Algebraic & Geometric Topology

In the near future, Geometry & Topology and Algebraic & Geometric Topology will no
longer be open access journals. The switch from open access to paid access is due to not having enough libraries support the journals with subscriptions. The journals will remain open to individuals, and the articles will be archived at arXiv. These journals are published by Geometry & Topology Publications, based in the Mathematics Department of the University of Warwick (Coventry, UK). Originally posted to PAMNET.

What is What in the Nanoworld

Although the subtitle of What is What in the Nanoworld is A Handbook on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, this book is more of a dictionary than a handbook. It defines and summarizes terms essential to nanoscale phenomena, regulations, experimental and theoretical tools, technology, and applications. There are over 1,300 entries ranging in lenght from a few sentences to a page. Many entries have accompanying illustrations or equations. It is available in the Science Library at Science REF T 174.7 B67 2004.

Guide to Information Sources in the Forensic Sciences

Guide to Information Sources in the Forensic Sciences by Cynthis Holt covers the major resources on all aspects of forensics, including those from anthropology, biology, chemistry, criminology, law, and medicine. After an introduction on subject classification systems, there are chapters on bibliographic, historical, and biographical sources; abstracting and indexing services; journals; books; online sources; non-bibliographic information sources; and research essentials. Name/title and subject indexes provide access to the contents. This resource is available in the Science Library at Science REF HV 8073 Z999 H65 2006.
