American Physical Society Announces OA Initiative

The American Physical Society (APS) announces a new Open Access (OA) initiative, Free to Read. It will be available in September 2006 and can applied to any article published by APS back to 1893. Authors, institutions, or readers can pay a one-time fee to make an article freely available. Initially, the fee will be $975 for articles in Physical Review A-E and $1300 for letters in Physical Review Letters. Articles in Reviews of Modern Physics will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please see the FAQ at http://publish.aps.org/FREETOREAD_FAQ.html.
