The Internet: A Historical Encyclopedia

The Internet: A Historical Encyclopedia is a three-volume set that "traces the roots of the Internet to hundred-year-old technology and thinking." Volume 1 contains biographies of Internet pioneers from Cap'n Crunch to Tim Berners-Lee. Volume 2 provides comprehensive essays on topics like data mining, digital libraries, and open source. A detailed chronology from 1843 through 2004 is in Volume 3. This encyclopedia is in the Science Library reference section at TK 5105.875 I57 I5372 2005.
