PeerJ

Founded by scientists with publishing and technology experience at PLoS One and Mendeley, PeerJ is a new open access model. PeerJ will "provide authors with low cost lifetime memberships giving them the rights to publish their papers freely thereafter" and "will operate a rigorous peer review process." The founders are proposing two publications covering the biological and medical sciences: a peer-reviewed journal (PeerJ) and a preprint service, PeerJ PrePrints. Submissions will begin this Summer and the first articles will be available in December 2012. Additional information is available here.
