Hi,
Kind Fred has placed an Office 2007 compatibility package on reference desk terminal C. This will allow us to assist users in printing documents that they created in Office 2007. Fred says that you don’t need to do anything special just go to open the document and the compatibility package will recognize it. This also should not affect your ability to create/edit your own documents using Office on reference desk C and then open them on your office PC.

The State of Aging and Health in America Report 2007 [pdf]
http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/saha/
Recently, the Center for Disease Control released the 2007 State of Aging and Health in America Report. It’s a valuable document for anyone with an interest in public health, gerontology, and other allied fields. This website contains the full text of the report, along with the 2004 report as well. Visitors will also appreciate the extra features offered here, which include state-based report cards that examine fifteen key indicators of older adult health, such as obesity rates, smoking habits, flu vaccine updates, and others. Obtaining these report cards is quite simple, as users just need to click on the state they are interested in. After doing so, they can examine the statistics for these fifteen indicators, and see how different states compare. Additionally, the site contains resources for journalists who wish to use these findings in various publications, and a general section titled “Using the Report”.

Hi all,
As you saw in an earlier message from Fred, SunyCard service will be unavailable while they do upgrades:
Saturday March 24 7:00am-9:00am
Monday March 26 8:00pm – completion (estimate 6 hours)
Edmee made a very nice case for library user needs. Barbara, Fred, and others worked with ITS and here is what they came up with:
Saturday March 24 – no problem the maintenance takes place before we open
Monday March 26
1) Signs will be posted in the libraries no later than Thursday March 22 warning users to have sufficient funds on their SunyCard before Monday as they will not be able to add funds in the evening.
2) On Monday signs will be posted on the SunyCard machines telling users they can purchase a card valued at $5.00 at the circulation desk. There will be approximately 100+ cards available at ULIB, cards will also be for sale at Dewey and Science.
3) The Uniprints & photocopiers will be placed in offline mode. It will be possible to print up to 30 copies from the Uniprint or photocopier with your SunyCard. Once the SunyCard system comes back up that money will be deducted from accounts. (this can create some confusion later – a patron puts a $1.00 on their card Tuesday and the Uniprint says they have no money – well the $1.00 went to pay their debt for copies made during offline mode time)
Let me know if you have questions and I will try to find out the answers.

When public photocopiers are out of service library staff should report them as follows:
Monday – Friday 8 am – 3 pm: Contact Jim Scalera at 437-3963
Evenings & Weekends: Report the problem to the Circulation desk in each library.
Please do not report copier malfunctions on REFPROB; only UnipriNT problems are reported on the distribution list. A simple call to the Circulation desks usually results in getting the copier up and running again. Failure to properly report the problem will result in delays
