The University at Albany Libraries now has access to Web of Science!

Web of Science provides you with quick, powerful access to the world's leading citation databases. Its authoritative, multidisciplinary content covers over 12,000 of the highest impact journals worldwide.  Web of Science includes topics in the sciences, social sciences and humanities. It is the electronic equivalent of the Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Science Citation Index.  Using Web of Science, registered users can create citation alerts for articles of interest.  When you create a citation alert, you will be notified whenever the document has been cited by a new article. Registered users can also create customized search settings that can be saved so that they are available each time you begin a search session.

The Libraries also subscribe to Journal Citation Reports (JCR), available on the Web of Science platform. Journal Citation Reports offers a systematic, objective means to critically evaluate the world's leading journals, with quantifiable, statistical information based on citation data. By compiling articles' cited references, JCR helps to measure research influence and impact at the journal and category levels, and shows the relationship between citing and cited journals.

Web of Science also offers ResearcherID, a feature that provides the global research community with an invaluable index to accurate author identification and information. By assigning a unique identifier to each author who participates, ResearcherID expressly associates each researcher with his or her published work -- standardizing and clarifying author names and citations and making information searches more straightforward and relevant.

EndNote Web

Web of Science also includes access to EndNote Web.  Create an account by registering and you will be able to

  • Store up to 50,000 references

  • Format bibliographies in 20 of the most popular bibliographic styles

  • Import references from many of the Libraries' most popular research databases

The Related Records function uses citation linking functionality in Web of Science to create a search for references that share citations with your record, allowing you to find research more relevant to your work than a typical topic or author search could.
